This card will be a choice of boy or girl...depending on what you might be expecting (not literally!)

This is another free cutting file but this one was from Miss Kate Cuttables. Kate does a daily freebie which is usually a cutting file and they are great so worth checking out her website.  This one is no longer free but is available for a very small charge.  I make a point of logging on each day in order to download the freebie while it lasts.

Her files often involve quite a lot of layers which I've trimmed out of this version.  The elephant is just two layers of shades of grey.  I've added some highlights with a white pen.  The balloon was attached with a thin piece of cut card but I've just used a piece of ribbon and also added a bow,  I made the balloon big enough to accommodate a little stamped message.  I've also added a few mini punched hearts and also a matching oval at the bottom for the elephant to stand on.  I love the combination of grey with either the pink or the blue and think this makes a really sweet new baby card,

This is the last card for me to share from the forthcoming workshop...still time to book your place.  We are meeting on Tues 12th June 10am at Blakemere Village,  Call or email the shop The Wendy House to book a place.

Here is another of the cards we will be making at the workshop on Tues 12th June.  This one is a wedding cake but I've not added any greeting so that whoever makes this can do that however they want - either freehand writing or stamping or printing.  I've stamped behind using a very useful simple line flourish by Honey Doo.  The cake itself is actually the front of a free cutting file on the Cricut Air. It should be a shaped freestanding card but I've shrunk the card and just used the front.  I've cut the front in a pearl ivory card and the back is a gold glitter card.  I've then added some tiny punches hearts to the flourish also in gold glitter. To finish off the cake, I've added strips of narrow pink ribbon on the cake layers and a bow in the middle.  At the top I've added some paper roses to be the crowning glory!

Another  card to come...watch this space.

This pretty card is made with an assortment of cutting files.  The oval at the back was actually cut the 'old fashioned' way with a pair of nesting dies. The foliage is actually just a small free cutting file that I've cut lots of times and stuck together to create a bigger affect.  The flowers are small punches.  The butterfly is from a cutting file from the Cricut Air.  The colours used on the back are a pearly lilac and pink then the overlay is cut from a non-shed silver glitter.  The same lilac and pink was used to punch the flowers and the lilac was also used at the back of the oval.  The small butterfly is a small punch, punched out in the non-shed silver glitter.  The final touch was using a pearl spray stem to create the antennae.  The greeting was stamped and embossed in silver.

This is the second card we are making at the forthcoming workshop on Tues 12th June.  If you are interested in coming along then please contact the shop either by email info@thewendyhouseblakemere.co.uk or by phone 01606 301688.  Hope to see you there.

Tuesday 29 May 2018

Sorry it's been a while since I posted but I'm only just getting round to doing the next workshop which is on Tuesday 12th June 10am-12 noon if you are able to make it. We are making some cards I've cut most of the pieces out using my Cricut Air. This one is just using a basic hexagon shape cut from various tones of yellow and orange to form the hexagon. The bees are a free cutting file from Birds Cards - this is the link to the page Birds Cards . Birds Cards is a great site for free cutting files which most machines can use now including the Cricut Air and Brother Scan'n'cut. The bees have been cut using non-shed glitter card to give them the irradescent look. I have used a black pen to do faux stitching around the hexagons and a dotty trail behind the bees. I've used a small text stamp on one of the hexagons. I've mounted all this on a square 7x7 inch card. Look out for the other posts to show the other cards we will be making.
